Sunday saw Dub extend their winning run (two games!!) with a hard fought 2-0 win over Mona Star at Ormeau Park. This took the club to the dizzy heights of sixth in the table.

Dub players arrived in dribs and drabs with captain Harvey and vice vice captain (in Gareth's absence) McCusker setting the standard, arriving 15 and 20 minutes late respectively. But at least they turned up unlike the match referee who was allegedly cuddled up on his settee at home with a fellow referee watching the Celtic/Rangers match with Chris de Burgh playing in the background and a glass of wine each in hand to help them lose their inhibitions.

Anyway, with no referee both teams agreed to find a random bloke in the car park, pay him £25 and ask him to do the honours. Hats off to Art who, with a car park full of people to pick from, managed to pick a guy who was a 'friend' of the opposition.

As the game eventually kicked off, both teams appeared lethargic and it took a great opportunity spurned by Mona Star to waken Dub from their slumber. A ball from right to left found the Mona striker clear in front of goal only for him to blast wastefully over the bar.

Almost immediately Dub retaliated with a succession of corners and it was from one of these that Dub opened the scoring. A great whipped ball in from Phil "im still drunk from the Bot last night" Doherty found Cormac at the back post who headed clinically into the top corner. (yes folks that was the words Cormac and clinical in the same sentence).

From the restart Dub were put under pressure by a Mona team desperate to get back on terms before halftime, yet despite the pressure only one scoring chance was created and subsequently spurned by the Mona midfielder, and so Dub headed into the interval one up.

As the second half began so to did more Mona pressure. However despite this Dub keeper Neil Smith didn't really have a save to make, even from a free kick right on the edge of the box, harshly awarded by Arts mate - although he puts this down to good wall placement- with Phil getting his fat ass in the way.

Dub were being restricted to counter attacking and it was one of these attacks that ultimately killed the game off. A surging run and pass from an unknown Dub midfielder found Cormac in space on the left. His centre found Man of the match Pete McToal free at the back post and he made no mistake in volleying the ball into the far corner of the net.

The game appeared over as a contest with Mona's 5 man attack nullified by a determined Dub team, and only a good save from Mona's keeper prevented a marauding Michael "look at my ponytail" Smyth from adding to the score.

The final whistle indeed came as a relief to a despondent Mona side, and confirmed Dubs second win on the trot. Confidence will be high as Dub take on Adelaide in the cup next week, with a cup quarter final place up for grabs.
