Doherty saves the Number 10 jersey!

Sunday was a good battling performance that gives us much encouragement should we meet New Lodge again in the Cup Final. The result doesn't matter when a player gets injured. I was gutted to hear about Phil's injury and I am surprised the referee allowed the game to continue. I think the game should have been abandoned immediately. Phil was pleased that people went to see him in the hospital after the game. The good news is that Phil got a clean break and should get the cast off in six weeks time.

Club Records
Phil played exceptionally well yesterday before going off in the second half (with the score at 1-1). He received the man of the match award and has been plaguing me for weeks to put up his record of fastest hattrick (20 mins). This is an area that needs updated so if you old any records or know of any e-mai them to me and I will put them up. Phil also deserves high praise for saving the club jersey. The ambulancemen wanted to cut the jersey so they could free his arm but heroicly he gritted the pain as they lifted it off to save the number 10 jersey. He said he knew I'd be annoyed (he was right!). I promised Phil that we would make the cup final in May for him and he could wear the number ten jersey.

I'd like to thank a number of people who helped us field on Sunday when we were struggling for a team including Liam Gillen, our new accomplished right back (Neil Smyth), Kyle and Donal and Shane Grey who came despite flu and injuries.

Cup opportunity
We have to realise that we have a tremendous opportunity to get to the final. Yet again my prediction was right and we potentially play Knock or Park Inn in the semi final. We have avoided all the top clubs but that means nothing if we don't put in one of our best performances of the season on Sunday week. We played them earlier in
the year, played well and still lost. As ever we have to get the right attitude in training.

Training on Monday
Monday night training attendances have been very poor lately largely down to injuries. All players are expected to attend next week particularly as there is no match on Sunday. We will be doing the bleep test again and a weigh in for Ryan McGaughey!

Get well soon..
Aswell as Phil I would like to wish Shane Murphy a speedy recovery. He damaged his arm last week against Adelaide and it is still in a sling. Kevin (who damaged his knee last week slipping on ice) is also injured. did it happen in a hotel room?

On a positive note it was good to have Gareth back last Sunday and hopefully McCusker and Hodgkinson will return to training next Monday. Seamy Greene may also be available for selection having recovered from his ankle injury.

Training Tonight
Get your name down on the website for the astroturf tonight. There will be a few shuttles at the end and all players are expected to stay for them.


Finance
We still owe quite a bit of money so anyone oweing any money should pay Kristian asap. Remember Ryan is back and he will terrorise you if you havn't paid up.

Fantasy League
I have no idea who's winning. I am afraid to look. I'm sure big Chris will e-mail an update.


Congratulations
Well done to big Chris. He is only the second ever Dub player (after Shane Murphy) to win the player of the month award. It really is a exceptional achievement but richly deserved. It's not just his performance but his attitude aswell. Two weeks ago against Adelaide both he and Shane Murphy battled through the whole second half with serious injuries to help us secure the three points. I would like to thank him in advance for donating the prizemoney to the club.
