Dub sailed to victory in Ormeau Park last Sunday making it their fourth straight win to keep up the pressure on league leaders Athletico. Dub are now level on points with Athletico and hopes are high among Dub's fans that they can go on to win the 2nd division title, provided other results go their way.
Dub started brightly and strolled to a 3 goal lead in the first half with 2 goals from McCann, including a majestic free kick from 25 yards out. The Belfast man is having another fine season and remains the front runner for the player of the season award. Harvey weighed in with a fine headed goal from another pinpoint corner from McCann. Dub eased off and alllowed Stanneys back into the game in the 2nd half with a fine finish from the Stanneys target man. Dub scored again from a corner, this time Cormac applied the finish with a superb header. Stanneys scored again following some poor defensive play at the Dub back. Victory was sealed, however, following an excellent break away goal from in-form Liam Elmore. He carried the ball from the half way line and stroked the ball home past the keeper, showing great composure.
Dub are in excellent form of late. If they can keep up this standard of performance then the 1st division surely beckons. Collingwood are next up in the league with Dub keen to avenge their defeat to the skunks during a particularly bad off day earlier in the season.
