Dub failed to make it 5 in a row following a poor performance against Collingwood at Ormeau Park on Sunday. Dub struggled to assemble a fully fit team and started the match with both Phil Doherty and McCann carrying worrying injuries. They were also missing Hodgkinson, Dickson and Sean Doherty, and as a result the team took an unfamiliar shape with changes at the back and in midfield. Unfortunatley, Dub missed a number of chances in the first half. Collingwod made them pay with a breakaway goal mid-way through the first half. The Collingwood no 10, their most dangerous player all afternoon, broke down the right leaving the Dub back line flat footed and crossed to an offside team mate who slotted home to put the skunks one nil up.
Dub went into half time with heads down, lacking any inspiration and seeminlgy short of confidence. Dub started the second half sluggishly but slowly bgean to build several attacks which failed to culminate in an equaliser. The back line were glad to see the Collingwood no 10 fail to appear for the 2nd half due to an injury. The Dub goal eventually came when the ball dropped in the box to Harvey who scored with a deft left foot finish. 1-1 and all to play for. Dub then missed some further chances to kill off the game and their fans were devastated when, with 10 minutes remaining and with Dub commiting men to attack, the sucker punch came when Collingwood scored the winner.
This was a disappointing day for Dub but with news that Brookvilla narrowly lost to Athletico their dreams of promotion live on. Next week sees the much anticipated clash with Athletico. Worryingly for Dub it looks like a few players may miss the big 2 clash through injury. However, the quality in the Dub squad and the overall spirit is such that they should bounce back from this defeat. Dub beat the league leaders earlier in the season and have the ammunition to do it again. This has been an excellent season for Dub and irrespective of the final outcome the game against Athletico is their cup final and a chance to show the rest of the league exactly what they are made of.
