Dub Defeat Not Sweet, Only Sour, as Chinese Take Away Result

Dub suffered one of their worst results in their history with a 2-1 defeat to CFANI at Blanchflower on Sunday. The fact they were missing 7 squad players and knowing that they could not qualify for the knockout stages of the Shield may have been playing on Dubs mind but this was no excuse for losing to a much inferior team.

It must be said that Dub were the better team for the majority of the game and had chances to put the game beyond CFANI's reach before conceding two poor goals. Dub took the lead after a cross from Bowd found Kernan in the box to slide it past the goalkeeper. Abbatte received a foot injury late in the first half and was replaced with the welcome return of Upton.

Dub continued to press in the second half and had numerous chances to grab a second, the referee had other ideas though and blew for offside every time he seen Upton in a goal scoring position.

CFANI pushed for an equaliser and eventually got it when a shinned shot looped into the top corner. With Dub pushing forward trying to regain the lead a quick counter attack found the CFANI striker who shot past Plunkett to take a shock lead.

Dub continued to try and push for what now would be a late equaliser but some wayward shooting and some more dubious offside rulings meant the score remained 2-1 CFANI.

Dub have a lot of work to do over the next two weeks in preparation for the start of the league and will need a much stronger squad of players in order to compete in the top flight.
