For the second week in a row Dub came back from 2-0 down after 15 mins to win the game 3-2 at the death with a fantastic team performance against a strong Athletico side.
Dub started with Plunkett in goals, Price at right-back, Green and Abatte at centre half and Flynn at left-back, the midfield consisted of Doherty and Grieve in the centre with Tamim and Donnelly on the wings and the prolific Bowd and that guy out of LMFAO up front.
Dub were slow out of the blocks again and found themselves 1-0 down after 5 mins with some poor defending and a great finish by the Athletico striker who sent a half volley across Plunkett into the bottom corner of the net.
1-0 became 2-0 after 15 mins when another defensive error seen an almost identical goal scored past Plunkett. 2-0 did not reflect the balance of play and 5 mins before half-time a fantastic one touch move from Dub resulted in Grieve putting Tamim clear and one-on-one with the keeper he made no mistake to leave the hal-time score 2-1.
Dub knew that they had a chance of getting something from the game and took the match to Athletico in the second half. The guy out of LMFAO took it upon himself to wind the Athletico centre-half up and take his mind off the game, it seemed to be working as more and more fouls were drawn against him in the second half and Dub nearly scored from a couple of set pieces, most notably Doherty almost getting on the end of a inswinging free-kick from Bowd.
With 5 mins to go and the score still at 2-1 Dub upped the anti again and the guy out of LMFAO drew a foul on the edge of the Athletico box. An orderly queue formed to hit the free-kick with Phil politely barging people out of the way to take it, unfortunately for him Bowd wouldn't budge and insisted he have a go. Phil responded with "well you better hit the target", clearly terrified with what Phil might do if he didn't hit the target Bowd stepped up and cooly slotted the ball around the wall and into the bottom corner of the net. 2-2 and we will never know what Phil would have done if he didn't hit the target.
With Dubs tails up they pressed on for a winner and with 1 min to go Bowd was fouled again slightly further out, Doherty was slighly less reluctant to give Bowd this one and once the guy out of LMFAO finished calling the Athletico centre-half a "dirty, smelly, stinkin, cheating f**kin w*nk*r" after kicking him, Bowd sent a spinning, curling, dipping shot round the wall which bounced awkwardly before the keeper and made it's way into the net. 3-2 Dub.
The final whistle brought complaints from the Athletico players who were obviously shocked at the turn-around but Dub went home happy with the 3 points. Man of the match went to that guy out of LMFAO for an all-round great performance. The only dampener on an otherwise perfect Sunday was Liverpool scrapping a win on penalties against a spirited Championship side. Oh well you can't win them all.
